Welcome to the interactive collision map

This map has been developed to provide information on the locations, numbers and types of road traffic accidents within the West Midlands and to keep our communities informed on road safety issues in their area.

Using the map

Zoom or move around the map using your mouse or the controls in the top left of the map. You can change the map type using the controls in the top right. If you want to find a specific area, you can search by road name, area or postcode.

Statistics on collisions and casualties are available at county, local authority district, local policing unit (LPU) and ward level. These boundaries are shown on the map and will change as you zoom in. You can change to a different level at any time using the map options control in the top right of the map. Click an area on the map to view the available statistics.

The map also shows the locations of road traffic collisions. You can change the year and month range using the map options control. Zoom in to ward level to see lower severity collisions. Click on a collision to see details about the incident.

Only personal injury collisions reported to West Midlands Police are included. Current year data is approximately three months behind the current date and may be incomplete. LPU and ward totals are approximate.

Collisions are classified by the highest severity casualty involved. Casualties are classed as fatal if death occurs as a result within 30 days of the collision. Serious injuries include fractures, internal injuries, severe cuts, etc. Slight injuries include bruises, minor cuts, etc. KSI includes fatal and serious casualties. Number of casualties involved includes all severities.
