Aseriti In conjunction with Solihull Police Road Unit Occupational Road Risk Awareness sessions were delivered over 2 days to approximately 160 staff at Aseriti, based at Birmingham Business Park. The sessions were well received by staff and Terry Deakin, Quality and Health and Safety Manager said; "The sessions generated a great deal of conversation whether at desks, in corridors or by the coffee machines, which indicates to me how well they raised peoples awareness, and got them thinking about their own safety, and that of others around them. We have had extremely positive feedback from those who attended, and the sessions certainly achieved our objective of raising road risk awareness, and getting our people thinking about the safer road usage." Jaguar / Land Rover A bespoke training package was developed for Jaguar and Land Rover, to be delivered to those among their fleet drivers who had recently received penalty points as a result of a speeding offence. To compliment the programme, a series of articles were created for their in-house magazines to help raise awareness of speeding issues for all employees. The project served as a trial for the car manufacturers' hopes to eventually offer a speed awareness course to all employees as part of their continuing professional development. Coventry University
As part of Coventry University's Learning Week a speed awareness course was presented to members of staff which discussed the reasons why speed is a problem and why safety cameras are used on UK roads. The session generated a lot of interest with many of the audience changing their opinion regarding the use of safety cameras and understanding why slowing down will help to keep them and other road users safe in the future. Ring and Ride Ring and Ride carries out driver training as part of staff induction and development. The issues of speed are covered as part of this process. The West Midlands Casualty Reduction Partnership exists to facilitate the reduction of injuries and death through speed related road crashes. The partnership’s Road Safety Education and Publicity Officer (RSEPO) provided support in the excellent work already carried out by Ring and Ride’s driver trainers. The aim of the course was to build upon the work already undertaken by the company and develop raised awareness, among staff, of the adverse effects of speed on road safety and society. |
