"Cameras are absolutely everywhere" Let’s talk mathematics— There are currently around 3500 fixed speed camera sites across the UK. According to Governmental research a speed camera will have a “zone of influence” of about 500 metres either side of the camera—that’s 1km. There are around 372,000km1 of road throughout the UK, so speed cameras protect only 0.94% of UK roads.

In 2002 the Department of Transport
gave the seven Local Authorities in the West Midlands region the go
ahead to join up with the Magistrates Court, Highways Agency and West
Midlands Police to form the Casualty Reduction Partnership. Whether
