New Kids' Road Safety CD Rom makes Street Sense
1 Jun 2005

West Midlands Casualty Reduction Partnership, in conjunction with seven other Midlands-based Partnerships today launched an interactive educational road safety CD Rom called 'Street Sense'. The resource, funded by the Midlands Safety Camera group, has been produced specifically with children aged 5 – 11 years old in mind and can be used by teachers and other education staff to teach children to be more streetwise.

The CD Rom features the characters Ruff, Mia, Lucy and Zak who guide the user through animated stories, videos, downloads, quizzes and games to give an enjoyable experience that will help kids keep safe on the roads.

The issues covered in Street Sense vary from crossing the road, seat belts, speed, cycle safety, school journeys, playing safely and stranger danger.

Adam Warwick, spokesperson for the Safety Camera Scheme, said:

"This resource has been specially designed to engage young minds. Learning can be great fun and delivering road safety information in this way will make children better aware of the dangers they face everyday on the roads and how to prevent getting hurt."

The CD Rom is available free of charge through the Casualty Reduction Partnership website. To request a CD, email foi@wmsafetycameras.co.uk.
