- New cameras in Birmingham and Wolverhampton New cameras in Birmingham and Wolverhampton Six new safety cameras have been installed in the Birmingham and Wolverhampton areas. Two cameras have been installed on the A435 Alcester Road around Moseley, Birmingham. The camera located southbound near Louise Lorne Road was installed following 13 serious collisions and 32 slight injury collisions during the 2005-2007 baseline period. The camera located southbound near Dowells Close was installed following seven serious collisions and 39 slight injury collisions during this same period. The two newly commissioned cameras on the A4040 Bromford Lane in Birmingham (northbound after St. Margaret's Road and southbound after Fairholme Road) were both installed as a result of one fatal and six serious collisions during a three year baseline period from July 2002 to June 2005. Collisions have continued to be high along this road, with four serious collisions during the last three years. The westbound camera on the A45 Coventry Road near Steyning Road in Birmingham has been relocated from further along Coventry Road following consultation between police and council officers. Its new location covers a stretch of road which has had two serious and 20 slight injury collisions in the last three years. A new camera has also been installed westbound on the A41 Tettenhall Road near Larches Lane in Wolverhampton. There were five serious and 36 slight injury collisions around this site during the 2005-2007 baseline period. |
